Derek Hopkins, a licensed engineer and skilled carpenter, has always believed in the power of design and construction to enhance living spaces. After a decade of experience with a major engineering corporation, Derek decided to pursue his passion for designing and building functional and unique outdoor spaces. Having been involved in the construction business at a young age, he decided to pursue his passion. Now, as the founder of NEDBUILDS, Derek’s goal has always been to create aesthetically pleasing, highly functional spaces that stand the test of time. His expertise as both an engineer and a carpenter allows him to bring a unique perspective to every project, ensuring that each design is not only beautiful but also structurally sound.

Elizabeth Hopkins: Bringing Aesthetic and Style to Life

Elizabeth Hopkins, co-owner and assistant designer, brings an artistic flair to NEDBUILDS. With a rich background in art and significant experience as a Visual Manager in a major corporation, Elizabeth left her corporate role to focus on her passion for design and interior/exterior styling. Alongside Derek, Elizabeth assists in design consultations and plays a pivotal role in executing the final design and styling details of each project. Her artistic vision and dedication to aesthetics greatly enhance the personalized touch that NEDBUILDS is known for. Additionally, Elizabeth’s entrepreneurial spirit shines through her mural business, Interior Canvas KC, further showcasing her commitment to bringing art and design into every aspect of her work.

John Even, our lead carpenter, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the NEDBUILDS team.
